Reach Out Lakota is a non-profit, ecumenical, community-sponsored organization that gives eligible families in West Chester and Liberty Township food and clothing, as well as paper, cleaning, baby, personal care and household items. No one can predict a layoff, a fire, or unfortunate event. The economic downturn and cost of fuel has caused a financial crisis on some families who have never before had to ask for aid.  We help our neighbors who have fallen on hard times. We also provide referrals to other agencies when additional assistance is required. Over 1,000 pieces of clothing and 18,000 pounds of food are given away monthly.

Hours for Services: Mon 5-7 pm, Wed. 10-noon, Fri 10-11:30 am

In addition to our regular year-round work, we provide three special programs:

Back to School Program - important info for Back to School 2009
Provide free health screenings, a mini job fair, information booths from local agencies as well as school supplies. Over 300 Lakota School children were a part of this program last year.  This event is also a Resource and Job Fair with representatives from various West Chester businesses taking part.  This year, the Back to School Program will be on August 15 from 10-2 at West Chester Presbyterian Church.  Volunteers are Needed!

Thanksgiving Program
Frozen turkeys are given as well as the items necessary to make Thanksgiving dinner.

Christmas Program
Large food baskets are given to families as well as having gifts for the mothers to select for their children.

Thank You for Your Support!
We are supported through donations from local churches, businesses, schools, service organizations and individual gifts. Additional support is generated through periodic fund raisers. A big thank you to the West Chester/Liberty Rotary Club for their auction and for donating the proceeds to our cause. You can also help support us by shopping at Bigg's Union Centre and saving your receipts for our 1% rebate. We also thank Pierre Foods for their donations as well as Starbucks!

Our Current Needs
We have a need for children's shorts, and we have have a need for many food items  Please see the list for items we need at present or consider coordinating a food drive to help Reach Out Lakota today.  Your help would be greatly appreciated.

You may drop off non-perishable food or clothing at any time in the shed behind our building at 6561 Station Road, West Chester.  Non-perishable food may also be dropped off any time at either the West Chester Police Department, 9577 Beckett Rd., Suite 500 or the Liberty Township Fire Department, 6682 Princeton-Glendale Rd. In addition to donating items, you can make a cash donation to help us purchase needed items.
