  • Kettering Backpack Inc. received $25,000 to buy food for the program that provides nutritious, easy-to-prepare food to 601 at-risk youth in the Kettering City School district.

Walmart hosted seven check presentations around the state of Ohio today to celebrate a “Day of Giving” in which 12 non-profit organizations received $356,000 in grants from the Walmart Foundation’s Ohio State Giving Council. Other areas impacted by the donation included Marietta, Logan, Ashland County, Columbus and Cleveland.

The State Giving Program awards grants to organizations that have a long-lasting, positive impact on communities across the U.S.

Grants are awarded to non-profit organizations that serve a particular state or region and work to fight hunger, support children and education, promote environmental sustainability or provide workforce development opportunities.
