Reach Out Lakota announces Corporate Food Fight

West Chester, May 2, 2016—Reach Out Lakota kicks off its First Annual Corporate Food Fight on June 1. The Food Fight is an initiative to bring local businesses and organizations together from around the West Chester and Liberty Township area to raise food and money for the organizations Summer Food Initiative.

The Corporate Food Fight runs from June 1 through 17.

Reach Out Lakota has a great working relationship with the Lakota School District that provides roughly 80 percent of the organization’s food donations. When schools release for summer break, Reach Out Lakota sees a large drop in donations and an equally large upswing in need and requests.

“The Corporate Food Fight will be a fun, novel way to keep our shelves stocked and meet the increased demands for summer food assistance,” says Lourdes Ward, executive director and CEO of Reach Out Lakota. “This will give our local businesses and easy way to give their neighbors sufficient food while their children are home from school.”

The Corporate Food Fight is a way for the organization to help eliminate the high cost associated with purchasing food throughout the summer and allow the funds raised to be rerouted to other programs.

“We are excited to kick-off the First Annual Corporate Food Fight in June! I would like to thank the sponsors, Liberty Center Foundation, West Chester & Liberty Lifestyle Magazine, West Chester/ Liberty Chamber alliance and all of the wonderful businesses that will be participating in this year’s event,” says J. Peyton Gravely, fundraising and donor relations coordinator at Reach Out Lakota.

The Wrap-Up Party for the event will be held at the Liberty Center’s Sabin Hall, 7100 Foundry Row, Liberty Township, OH 45069, on June 24 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Anyone interested in participating in the Corporate Food Fight is asked to contact J. Peyton Gravely at

“We are grateful for the overwhelming support from our WCL neighbors and it is always amazing to watch our community come together for those in need,” concludes Gravely.
